Other Research SitesCOMRISE - Center for Minority Research in Special Education COMRISE works to: increase the number and research capacity of minority scholars in institutions of higher education with high minority enrollments; build a community of minority scholars within the larger special education research community;improve the quality and effectiveness of culturally competent special education services for minority students. COPSSE - Center on Personnel Studies in Special Education COPSSE is a cooperative agreement between the U. S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, and the University of Florida. Teams of COPSSE scholars are preparing nine research syntheses on (a) the supply and demand of special education teachers, (b) the character and effectiveness of teacher education, and (c) certification and licensure issues. ERIC EC - Educational Resources Information Center The ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education (ERIC EC) is one of 16 federally funded clearinghouses in the ERIC system, a nationwide information network sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. ERIC EC gathers and disseminates the professional literature, information, and resources on the education and development of individuals of all ages who have disabilities and/or who are gifted. DB LINK - National Information Clearinghouse on Children who are Deaf-Blind DB-LINK is a federally funded information and referral service that identifies, coordinates, and disseminates (at no cost) information related to children and youth who are deaf-blind (ages 0 to 21 years). Four organizations have pooled their expertise into a consortium-based clearinghouse. This collaborative effort utilizes the expertise and resources of: American Association of the Deaf-Blind Helen Keller National Center Perkins School for the Blind Teaching Research. IDEAdata IDEAdata presents the most recent State-reported data available collected by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs as required under Section 618 of IDEA. Library of Congress The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution, and it serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with more than 120 million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. The collections include more than 18 million books, 2.5 million recordings, 12 million photographs, 4.5 million NCES - National Center for Education Statistics NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data that are related to education in the United States and in other nations. NCDDR - National Center for the Dissemination of Disability Research NCDDR - National Center for the Dissemination of Disability Research NCDDR research activities are designed to collect information that will assist in identifying the needs and most likely strategies that will assist in matching dissemination practices with intended user groups. Major activities of the NCDDR in this area include: Persons with disabilities; Direct disability service organizations; Researchers, including NIDRR grantees; Consumer groups and organizations; State and Federal legislators and aides; Healthcare professionals; Community-based independent living centers; Mayor's and Governor's committees on employment; Journalists; State vocational rehabilitation agency directors; and State directors of special education. NICHCY - National Information Center for Children with Disabilities NICHCY is the national information center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues. Their focus is children and youth (birth to age 22). NIDRR - National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research NIDRR provides leadership and support for a comprehensive program of research related to the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities. All of our programmatic efforts are aimed at improving the lives of individuals with disabilities from birth through adulthood. National Library of Education NLE is world's largest federally funded library devoted solely to education. OSEP - U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs OSEP provides formula grants to states, and discretionary grants to institutions of higher education and other non-profit organizations to support research, demonstrations, technical assistance and dissemination, technology and personnel development and parent-training and information centers. SEELS - Special Education Elementary Longitudinal Study SEELS is a study of school-age students funded by the Office of Special Education Programs in the US Department of Education and is part of the national assessment of the 1997 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 97). From Year 2000 to 2006, SEELS will document the school experiences of a national sample of students as they move from elementary to middle school and from middle to high school. SPeNSE - Survey of Personnel Needs in Special Education SPeNSE provides information on the quality of the workforce nationally, within each geographic region, and within and across personnel categories. In addition, researchers are using this information to explain the quality of the workforce based on state and local policies, preservice education, continuing professional development, and working conditions. |
