Abstract |
| Purpose: This project will
provide a comprehensive career ladder training program leading to a
Bachelor's degree for paraeducators from two school districts in
southern California. Paraeducators will be assisted in providing
better services to children with high-incidence disabilities, while
preparing them to become fully qualified teachers of special and
regular education. |
| Method:The training group
will be diversified through the recruitment of paraeducators from
under-represented populations, including those with disabilities or
those who are members of racial or ethnic minorities. The training
will mostly be conducted at school district sites, allowing the
paraeducators to stay within the communities. The project will
reinforce partnerships among the school districts, local community
colleges, and the university. A total of 45 paraeducators will be
trained over the three years of the projects. |
