Mission statement

The National Clearinghouse for Professions in Special Education (NCPSE) is committed to enhancing the nation's capacity to recruit, prepare, and retain well qualified diverse educators and related service personnel for children with disabilities.

Our Services
  • Conducting nationwide outreach campaigns to encourage individuals to pursue careers in special education.
  • Assisting state education agencies, local education agencies, and colleges and universities in identifying effective recruitment/retention strategies to improve the quality of professionals and paraeducators who serve children with disabilities, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Collecting, organizing, and disseminating information regarding special education personnel needs, availability of qualified service providers, and preservice professional development programs to states, local school divisions, and colleges and universities.
  • Partnering with an array of educational institutions, organizations, and professional associations committed to improving both the quantity and quality of education professionals, in order to heighten awareness of the unique needs of the special education professional.
  • Providing information services that disseminate products related to attrition/retention, personnel preparation programs, financial aid, employment resources, career information, and state licensure information.
